Vikings

Can it get worse than today? Maybe. I don't know how but it is possible. I think the more likely outcome is improvement but for now, check out this weeks S or N!

Bison

On the other end of the spectrum, NDSU's Football kept right on rolling.

If they're more your speed but you missed it, check out that S or N!

The Soccer & Volleyball teams started the week off with losses to Drake and Cal respectively on Friday. The Volleyball team returned to the court on Saturday with a pair of wins over Buffalo & Green Bay to close out the NDSU classic. The Soccer team came back today at Northern Iowa but fell by a three.

Dragons

Moorhead State's Golf team started the week with a ninth place finish in Bemidji. The Volleyball team picked up the torch with a quartet of games in Indianapolis but was only able to salvage the second of the four. The Soccer team also played on Friday and managed to pull off a 2-1 win over Michigan Tech thanks to goals by Jacie Osier & Jensen Odegaard.

The Football team closed out the week with a tale of two halves. Over the first two quarters they played about as well as they could have and had the lead at halftime. In the third quarter UM Duluth flipped it's switch and blitzed the Dragons with a 28-0 run that put well out of reach. There are plenty of positives that can be taken from the game by Moorhead State but it was a tough way to go for them.

Cobbers

Concordia's mens Golf team played their way to a fourth place finish to start the week. On the heels of which the Volleyball team came up short 3 - 2 against Valley City State. When they returned to the court on Friday in Waverly, Iowa they split the pair, losing to Grinnell before defeating some college named Coe.

The Football team lead off a packed Saturday with an impressively competitive game against Wisconsin-Whitewater. If not for five turnovers, the Cobbers may have been able to make it even closer than the 20-10 final score. With the conference season just days away, the team seems primed to compete in the MIAC!

Saturday also included a pair of victories by the Soccer teams and a split by the Volleyball team. The men's Soccer team netted three against Buena Vista, one each from Tyson Aberle, Casey Haldis & Sondre Rygg. The women more than doubled that with a 7-0 win over BV, Karsen Granning was the only multi-time scorer with two goals. On the Volleyball court it was a 3-0 loss to Wartburg and win over Webster by the same margin.

To close it out, the women's Golf team finished in 13th place.

High School Sports

On the prep scene I took in an all West Fargo Soccer match under intermittent rain on Thursday and the top five showdown between South & Shanley on Friday night. You'll have to go over to the Twitter account to see the pictures from Thursday while Friday's game gave much more!

Redhawks

A great season fittingly ended in a great way for the Fargo/Moorhead Redhawks. Unfortunately they were on the wrong side of the final score of their last game. If you haven't heard by now, the Saints came back on them in game five of the North division series to win.

If it's any consolation, it ended up being a de-facto league championship as the Saints swept the Sioux City Explorers in the American Association championship series.
