Sunday Roundup

Vikings

It's Packer week 2018 - 2.0. It's also another Sunday night game so the Pick Six will be up tomorrow. SKOL!

Bison

The most meaningful development for NDSU during the low key holiday week was the fact that they now know who they'll be playing on Saturday. Montana State will be the next challenger for the crown in the Doom Dome.

There was a little more than just that though by the Bison. The women's Basketball team spent a couple days in California & got a couple lessons while in the sun. They kept the score close against Pacific on Friday but fell seven points short in the end. The game only saw seven players get off the bench, two of whom played all 40 minutes. Not surprisingly, Tyrah Spencer & Michelle Gaislerova lead the way on offense with 19 & 16 respectively. It got a little better the next day as they took on North Texas. They went one lady deeper in the rotation & none of them had to play the whole game, just a lot of it. They got offense from seven of the eight, lead by Marina Fernandez's 20. But NT went 13 deep in their rotation and the Bison couldn't stay afloat, losing 92 - 78. Even more than for the guys, it's about learning experiences at this time of the year for them & hopefully it served it's purpose!

The guy's also played a game this weekend out in Tennessee against a possible tournament team. They did their best to stay in the game but a double digit halftime deficit was too much for them to overcome. The 79 - 61 loss leads them into the buzz saw that is Gonzaga tomorrow night. Still would have loved to have made it to that one but I don't think that it'll be pleasant viewing for the Bison at any point in the game so maybe it's good that it's going to be mostly unavailable. Hopefully I'm wrong!

Dragons

The Dragons men's Basketball team started Thanksgiving week with a dynamite follow up to what may have been their best all around performance of the season last Sunday. Lead by Jake Johnson's 20 off the bench, they made it two in a row over the century mark while holding their opponent to 68 points. A strong showing that needs to translate once their back on native soil.

The Wrestling came up next and came up one point short against their Potato repping neighbors.

The women's Basketball team rounded out the week with a two day tournament in Colorado. A trio of the ladies got at least 12 points en route to a 21 point win on Friday, 62 - 41. They came back yesterday and while not being quite as successful on the defensive end, managed to finish with six players with at least 8 points lead by Kiley Borowicz's 20. That helped them cruise to a 74 - 61 victory.

Cobbers

Thanksgiving was no different for the Cobbers athletics department. Wrestling faced off against Moorhead State & squeaked out a one point win on Tuesday night.

The women's Hockey team spent Black Friday in Eau Claire, Wisconsin & were probably feeling pretty dark after the 3-1 loss in which they were the first to score.

Timberwolves

Karl-Anthony Towns has been playing out of his mind. Even when he hits an in-game slump he finds a way to make impactful plays. If he keeps going like he has been, with the same or more help from the other 8 or 9 guys that regularly see the court, the playoffs may not yet be out of the question. Even if they come up short of that goal, all signs point to this being a fun team to tune in for or to go to the cities to watch in person!

High School Sports

Barnesville made it to the Purple's paradise but came up short against Caledonia in the championship game. The final score was 21-0 but the Trojans kept the game much closer than that into the fourth quarter, they just couldn't sustain any drives long enough to score points of their own. That in no way takes away from what was a great season by the team just SE on 94!

For the rest of the prep scene it had already been all about preparation for the upcoming Winter seasons until the last day or two when several of North Dakota's Hockey teams hit the ice for their first time.
