It took six minutes for the home Bruins to score their first points of the evening on a three-point shot by Kevin Hardy and they followed that with enough offense & defense to tie the game at 14. It was close til the final minutes of the half, but the Firebirds went back into the locker room the same way that they came out of it - with a run of uninterrupted points. To start the game it was seven, the end the half it was 13.
To their credit, South never appeared to stop trying to make up the ground a second time, despite the lead going to 18 & beyond in the second half. Their best chance came as Devils Lake went scoreless for more than five minutes over the early-middle of the second but all that South could manage was two points. It ultimately proved to be the final nail in their upset bid.
