The Olympics are firmly in the rearview mirror but I don't think that the excitement has to fade just because of the passage of time. Certainly not when it's only been a couple of weeks. The sisters of Hockey had their celebration in Grand Forks this week and the National Curling Championship was taking place at Scheels arena. The link to the Olympics made no clearer than by the presence of two of the gold medalists tonight at the American House of Curling. Tyler George and John Shuster had photos taken and signed autographs by practically everyone in the facility. And that's not much of an exaggeration as the line stretched from the ice bowl through the concourse and to the entry stairs.

But even with those extra incentives, I was surprised by how few people were there and by how much of the arena was dormant. Granted, the game itself isn't terrific for spectator's but I would have liked to have seen the organizers and the city put more of an emphasis on things that would have brought people in and kept them there for a while. Opening up some more of the food stands would have been a start. Idk, maybe that's a lot to ask? I don't think it is though.

So I'd say that the city and the facility failed to capitalize on the opportunity so for those of you who didn't make it to South West Fargo, here are a few pictures of the goings on at the championship!
