Sunday Round up (5/7)
Another busy week of sports in the Red River Valley. For my part, I finally broke through and made it to some high school and college baseball in the area.
The first featured a terrific pitching performance in an exhibition match between teams from either side of the river. High School Baseball
I followed that up with an EDC/i-29 clash that included some outstanding individual efforts. High School Baseball
The main story of the week may have been the Bison Baseball team's series against Oral Roberts University. NDSU Baseball
There is more then that though. There have been track meets and softball games all over the place. While I'm not able to take in all the events I wish those athletes well as they continue to compete and congratulations for those who will be graduating in the coming days!
On the pro level, the Twins have continued to play surprisingly good Baseball. They finally demoted Kyle Gibson but still are refusing to promote the future - Jose Berrios. I get that he's a youngin but I'd rather know that he's a not an ace, like we now do with Gibson, then to hear that he's unhittable at AAA yet not good enough to face MLB hitters yet. Meanwhile the local pros have been back in town to get used to the ball park again. They've got some exhibition games this coming week but nothing to report from this past week.
