With the final pick of the 2023 Draft Minnesota made a move that would have made more sense sans an extension with Alexander Mattison or in light of a Dalvin Cook departure. It may all-but-ensure the latter happens or it could just be that they thought so highly of the "third-round" talent to make their running back room a definite strength.

He isn't a "complete" back as pass-catching & ball-security were a problem for him in Birmingham and could be why he lasted all the way til the last round. As a complimentary option with good size (5'10" 209) he will be called-upon to contribute on special teams.
All of that assumes that he makes the 53, which of course is not guaranteed.
