Davies

Today marks the beginning of the journey to the Dome for all four divisions of the game in North Dakota

So what better time than now to roll out the first of this Fall's previews?

Davies returns to the field with one less D1 player, again, but will look to build on their six win 2020 season with a brand-spanking-new turf field & plenty of future college talent

A special thank you to coach Werremeyer for taking the time to correspond!

Before talking about what lies ahead, are there any highlights from last Fall that stand out for you in reflection?

Getting a season in without losing any games was one of our highlights. The way the kids came together, the bonds formed between the players, the leadership provided by the seniors was special when it seemed like football was about the only normal thing in their lives. Some highlights of the season were the first drive against Shanley (10+ minutes, all run plays), key field goals against North & WF and the way the kids played against WF after the first dive where they scored at ease.

Did your team take part in any camps or organized activities this Summer?

We have an independent Davies camp that our kids participated in during June and July.

Who are some of the players that you anticipate will step into the roles vacated by the 2020 graduates?

We will look for leadership from our returning all conference and all state players, Denver Piechowski, Eli Mach and Dylan Feldner. Truman Werremeyer brought a physical presence to the field on both sides of the ball and we have had several kids put in many hours in the weight room to bring the same physicality to the field.

Is there anything else you would like people to know about your team going into the season?

We need to start by building our O and D lines. We have Logan Stegmiller and Jonny O’Neill returning for the O line. Several others have been working hard this summer including Jack Bullinger, Andre Werk, Christian McCarthy, Brennen Palmer, Kaleb Vliem, Grant Hubbard and Isaac Kerzman. I could see them competing for starting spots on the O-Line.

On the D-Line we return Kaleb Vliem, Denver Piechowski and Zach Larson. The individuals listed above are pushing these three to remain starters and will most likely rotate through the D-Line.

Our backfield is completely gone. Ray Brown and Oliver Lucht contributed in reserve roles last year and need to take the next step. Jackson Greff, Keaton Schwab, Eli Mach, Eli Hayes and Jamison Wanzek and Luke Lorenz may figure into the backfield.

QB contenders are Dylan Feldner, Grant Tschosik and Gage Brewer.

We return WR Andrew Laqua and have several kids competing there. On defense Eli Mach, Oliver Lucht and Dylan Feldner have experience at linebacker. Jackson Greff, Luke Lorenz, Eli Hayes, Jamison Wanzek and Avery Baumgartner have had good summers at LB as well.

The defensive backfield is a complete rebuild. Andrew Laqua, Lucas Wilm, Nathan Stegmiller, Schwab, Tschosik, Brown are all players you may see in the defensive backfield.
