Week 7

A mixed bag of fantasy discussion.

In case the logo wasn't clear enough

Who should I start this week, Josh Jacobs or David Montgomery?

If last weekend was any indication, Tampa is rounding into the sort of shape that many people expected before the season started so while Jacobs is the better back, Montgomery is a better option between those two. Though, to be fair, LAR is not exactly a slouch of an opponent so you may do well to explore other options.

Tre’quan Smith or Tee Higgins this week for my flex?

The Cincinnati offense has a LOOOONG way to go before it's in New Orleans class but Higgins may be both more talented and with a better matchup this week.

Would you guys trade Mike Evans for Kenyan Drake?

Drake feasted on the Fallen Stars last week and has been a solid contributor for most of the season. While there are a few tantalizing weeks left, the softest portion of his schedule is behind him. But there are now going to be an obnoxious number of mouths to feed in Tampa. I think Evans will remain the top option but that doesn't mean he will be immune of suffering a no-show week or two the rest of the way, so I've successfully worked myself into a box... So I'll leave it at this: if it's standard scoring, making a move for Drake has a good chance of improving your roster while in a PPR league I would stick with Evans.

PPR, I need a WR/flex duo out of DJ Moore, Robert Woods & Kenyan Drake.

Because I have more respect for Chicago's defense than New Orleans' I say Moore & Drake but Woods could finish with similar numbers so I don't think there is a clearly wrong choice.

Who do I start in flex, Evans, Deebo, Patrick, or Swift?

After his no-show against Green Bay I think Evans will return to form tomorrow. I did give serious consideration to Swift after his breakout last Sunday and with Atlanta unlikely to put together the same kind of performance as they did against Minnesota.

If you're trying to navigate the bye week and are in need of a tight-end, Logan Thomas could pay off for you with a matchup against the Fallen Stars. Yeah, it's come to this for Dallas, even the nameless DC team has a good chance of a strong fantasy day. And even though his numbers have been pedestrian for most of the weeks this season, he has gotten a consistent target share which finally translated last week, so why can't it happen again!

A guy that Thomas could replace in your lineup is Austin Hooper. Hooper may have more name cache but after undergoing an appendectomy and with a bye week coming in 9 days he is worthless for the next three weeks, if not even longer. And there becomes less margin for error with every week so while I'm not actually saying to drop Hooper, he is a definite choice to be replaced for the next few weeks.

Was going to go with Logan Thomas, because it's accurate, but then I saw that Greg Ward. Even though he's locked for this week, it's beyond me why only 17% of people started him. He continues to get opportunities and while his numbers won't always be among the best, against a sorry New York mini-men team, he should have gotten more!

A broken-down warplane with a doubtful designation to boot going against one of the best defenses in the league. Be better people, bench Jamison Crowder.

Antonio Gibson has been between fair & good so far this season. Now he will get the chance to show out against the fallen stars. Against that pitiful defense I think he will far exceed his best performance to date and for the low, low cost of $5200.

Everyone is trying to add Antonio Brown with the news that he's joining up with Brady again. Given his track record over the last two years, I have a hard time believing that it'll work for all eight weeks, even in a locker room like Arians. Remember, the last time he had one wide receiver as talented as either Evans or Godwin on the field with him, he forced his way out so the ego could very well ruin this chance as well, so hopefully you guys didn't burn a ton of cash on the former elite receiver.

But that's all for now.

Until next week, happy Fantasy hunting!
