Before getting into the thoughts, here's a nice little look at the big man
The drafting of Darrisaw means that unless something goes very wrong between now and August, Minnesota will have it's book-end tackles. That's the positive to come from the move.
And it was way past time that the team put legitimate investment into that part of the roster. But even as they have done that in recent years they've neglected 2/3 of the middle of the line. You might be thinking about Ezra Cleveland. He's not a guard, even if that's what he is pigeon-holed into playing now. Minnesota had the chance to get their best interior lineman since Steve Hutchinson but instead handed him over to the broken-down planes.
So they've used their most valuable asset and still have the most glaring needs. Seems moronic but I'm trying to hold my criticism until tomorrow has unfolded.
The sad fact is that even if the interior doesn't get appreciably better through the players that they better select, the 21/22 line could be the best one for Minnesota in more than a decade. As much as they may aid Kirk Cousins in his distribution of the ball, Dalvin Cook would be the real winner from that and the video gave glimpses of what Darrisaw is able to do to help ball carriers. I won't ignore that just for the sake of being irritated by the approach. He will help the run-first offense become more dynamic.
