2019 Falcons 🏀

It's the beginning of the holiday season so Basketball game nights are just about to start! The next coach who was kind enough to take some time & answer this year's questions was Reed Roisum, Park's boys Basketball coach. You can also jump over to the girl's preview after your done.

Before looking towards the upcoming season, I'm curious which memories stand out as the highlights of last year?

"We had a number of close games throughout the season that were fun to compete in, especially the ones we ended up winning."

How do you plan on building upon what you taught your returning players last season? Did you take your team to any camps this past Summer? If so, how did your team benefit from that?

"We should be able to build upon what we started last season both offensively and defensively as all but one player will be back from last season's team. This should allow us to progress more quickly and hopefully be ready to compete right away in our first game. We did attend a couple of camps, one that was a true camp and not just games. The Mayville State camp was very beneficial not only to learn from the coaches and players but to see certain traits that we wanted to be modeled for us by the Mayville State Men's team."

Have you already had players in the gym working on their game this Fall?

"Many of our players also play football so that makes it hard for them to get in the gym.  And of course MSHSL rules don't allow us coaches do anything with the players until the first official practice, so any open gyms are athlete led."

Thinking about the roster that you will have, who will need to step up to replace players that graduated or otherwise moved on?

"We lost one player to graduation, and while he will be tough to replace, we have a number of players that have varsity experience and are ready to step in."

As things are today, is there a certain aspect of the game that you think will be the strength of your team, be it the guard play or in the post or transition offense/defense, etc.?

"Our athleticism should be a strength so we hope to utilize that to improve our defense and transition offense."

Ultimately, what do you hope to accomplish this season?

"We hope to compete in every game. We believe if everyone competes to their best, this team has the potential to make a run at the end of the year."
