Vikings

The Vikings made their cuts and announced their initial 53 man roster. I expect there will be some shuffling before they trounce the 49ers next Sunday but most of the guys that are still getting paid will be the ones that they roll with this season.

It's a bit disappointing to see Robison get cut but I predicted that weeks ago so I wasn't extremely surprised. The move that most came out of left field was Newman retiring and immediately joining the Vikings staff. It makes some sense with the investment the team made in the secondary during the latest draft but switching to another form of employment with the Vikings just means that he still owes his employment to Mike Zimmer, partially.

Bison

NDSU Football came out of the tunnel swinging haymakers and connected on basically every one. Already put out a pair of posts related to the game so you'll have to check those out to know my thoughts.

Away from the gridiron, the rest of the Fall sports struggled in their debuts. The Volleyball team dropped their first three but managed to defend home court against Western Carolina today.

It's all just beginning to stay tuned!

Dragons

The Dragons Football team got the jump on everyone else and didn't look back against Crookston on Thursday night. Same drill as with NDSU, check the post for more on that one!

Also like NDSU, the rest of the teams did not fare too well. Volleyball took one of three while in Sioux Falls while the Soccer team dropped a pair on the pitch in the Pacific Northwest.

Cobbers

Meanwhile the Cobbers managed a strong start to their year in several sports. Football rolled to a 25 point victory in Nebraska.

The men's Soccer team split a pair over the weekend.

Both the men's and women's Cross Country teams started well in their first races.

Volleyball split a quartet in the Twin Cities

And last but not least the Golf teams were still finishing up today so no results have yet been posted.

Redhawks

Optimism may not be enough. Instead of the strong finish that I predicted the team seems to have lain down and shown it's belly. Positivity might say that it was fun while it lasted and even though I'm negative on the finish to the year, it's still immeasurably better than the way the TC team went about their season. Maybe a miracle will happen and they'll somehow extend their season, but it's Fall now so if it doesn't happen there is plenty of other sports to occupy oneself with!

High School Sports

West Fargo Sheyenne trampled Bismarck Legacy. It was the sort of performance that a biased fan like myself was uncomfortable with for the sake of the team on the wrong end of it. Not to say that in criticism of WFS's coaches because they went about it the right way, their team was just that much better on Friday night. For more on THAT game though, once again - check the post!
